Hello, I successfully built a Thai DVD 2 days ago, with many improvements. Here are my comments:
* Pysycache → It now shows Thai texts and plays Thai audio help, but texts look small to me. This can be easily applied to any other language that requires a special font. * Childsplay → Automatically switches to US keybord then back to Thai after quitting, again this is not specific to Thai and should also work for Chinese or Burmese for example. * Tanglet → I finally decided that English is the fallback playing language for every language, while the interface is in user's language. As of writing, there are few playing languages available [1][2]. I can generate lists of words and letters stats required to randomly choose letters, from a dictionary file (eg. myspell) *but* I need someone, a native speaker, to validate the game in his/her own language before publishing it. Basically, only word lists from upstream are considered as being validated :(. * Kgeography → Amedeo, if you want to get it better translated, I can write a script that helps translating similar sentences, like “The capital of blabla is …”. This can be applied for any other language, of course! * Gamine → PrintScr works for me, tested in Whole DDL, results in a screenshot in $HOME/Gamine/. * TuxPaint → Can now be fully translated. * GoldenDict → It can also browse Wikipedia for pages, not only translate. However, you need to set it up so that the correct Wikipedia is used! This applies for *any* other language: I need specific settings for every language, this is better if this is done by a native speaker. Please take care of selecting websites/dictionaries compatible with the project philosophy… * KTurtle, Laby → I think they've been designed with the idea that commands are translated into child's language, it's probably easier for them. Are all commands on Transifex? * TBO → The Thai tutorial gets now displayed. I still need to find a way to put this tutorial (English) on Transifex, this would probably be easier for everyone. * Vmpk → Yes the instrument set is not complete. This is due to the sound sets available in Debian. I believe they have difficulties to find instrument samples with a compatible license… * Keyboard settings → Now includes a font for Thai, keys now show Thai characters! If another language has this issue, you need to tell me. * Howto files → We need an English version that would be easier to translate into another language!!! I suggest we open a Howto section on our website to ease translation. Transifex is good for isolated sentences, not adapted for long texts. We would then integrate these howto's into our PDF documentation. We can produce a separate PDF as well. * Keyboard layout → Now switched to TIS-820.2538, this was an option in X server keyboard configuration. Note that I don't know whether the default Thai font perfectly matches this layout or not. * Weird characters (dotted circles) → Not visible anymore for TBO. For Lxterminal and Xarchiver, I found them in the PO file I get from Transifex, opened in Gedit. Using console editors, the circle gets combined with the character after, but it is likely not the correct one either! I can't tell where is the issue. Maybe try to change strings again on Transifex then download the PO file and check the modified strings. At least I can modify the PO file once downloaded, but it'll be overwritten at next Transifex update… * Issues with main menu → Can't get these issues (apps not working), everything works fine for me. I believe your hardware may be not correctly handled by DDL, supposedly because Squeeze is too old. I still plan to move to Wheezy then immediately to Jessie. I'll talk about that later. * "Parallel" Whole DDL environments → Yes there are Mini, Junior and Kids DDL. The last two sessions were designed by pedagogy specialists from the University of Tomsk (Russia) for schools. Unfortunately they are not maintained anymore, application settings may not produce the expected results. That's it! I plan to build another Thai DVD soon, within days, but I'd like to fix some more issues before :). If someone wants a daily build for his/her language, just ask me! Cheers, JM.
