OOC: To sort of put into context where the fire is - nowhere near the inn in fact but in and very close to the quarantine area of the wharf. I hope this sort of clarifies things. JaxyS :) ~~*~~ Shyne groaned softly and opened her eyes, the smell of burning oil was strong. Black smoke gushed into the air spiraling upwards. Her duty with the offal cart had been close to the Iron Gate but in the area of Drache which was not quarantined. She sat up, wincing at the pain in her head and a slender hand rose shakily to her scalp to feel the lump from the blow on her head and the matted hair, stuck with dried blood. Looking across to the smoke billowing from the wharf district, she frowned. How could this be? The fire had been in a street adjacent to the quarantine area of the wharf but divided by the wall and the Iron Gate. How could the fire have spread there? She rose shakily to her feet and closed her eyes briefly against the dizzy feeling which washed over her making her feel nauseus. As she stood she was buffered by the wind and the rain. The rainstorm! The fire in the street where it began was fairly contained, because the wind was blowing across from the storm to the wharf district, sending sparks wildly spinning towards the warehouses there and not back upon the rest of the city. Of course. A shower of sparks, perhaps from some highly flammable material from one of the burning shops, had carried on the wind and ignited the oil warehouse by chance. A fluke of bad luck perhaps, and even on this side of the wall, Shyne was close enough to feel the power of the blast and be caught by flying debries. The guard at the Iron Gate must be aware of the fire now, after the explosion, and she dragged herself in that direction, trying to pull herself together and hoping her injury wouldn't prevent her from being of help. ~~*~~ _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
