That's what I thought I remembered, but I've got an early B unit that has smooth paint. Doesn't look like a repaint, and top and bottom are the same. Drake wasn't iron-clad on changes though.

The biggest, most important improvement in the B Line was the black overprinting of the "above the belt" front panel legends! The "natural" aluminum labels of the A and earlier were impossible to see unless the light was just right...... :-)

The textured epoxy paint appeared on the B line. This was one of the
improvements mentioned in Drake's ads at the time.

The TR-3 paint was smooth, I am fairly certain the epoxy " bumpy " paint didnt show up until the C-Line, TR-4C, etc.
