A true peak reading wattmeter, or monitor scope, would be a better indication
of power out rather than the dampened movement of the meter perhaps?

Subject: [drakelist] T4XC distorted SSB

Drakelist de PA2DW,

?

Last weekend I worked on the SSB quality of my T4XC. I am 90% CW operator so I
never bothered much about the SSB, but it does have?a problem.

Best discribed it looks as though the bias setting is not proper. It sounds
distorted and "non-linear" and when whistling I have my full output of 160W RF,
but when talking normally into my Shure 444 the meter?hardly leaves the left
corner.

I checked the bias of course, which is fine. I also checked the mic-amp and
that looks fine too. Replaced the 12ax7's by ECC83, no change.

I will proceed of course and my next target is the driver bas, but would not
mind tips and advises!

?

Best regards, Dick PA2DW
