Nick, The Drake C Line will not need a T/R switch. The relay is contained in the T4XC to switch the antenna from the receiver to the transmitter. Some of the older transmitter/receiver pairs needed an external switch like you are referring to. The T/R switch handled the task of switching the antenna from receiver to transmitter, and muting the receiver so you don't get feedback in the speaker. Some of the "experts" may give a better definition, but that's the gist. The C Line takes care of all of the necessary functions for the pair to act as a true transciever would. Welcome to the world of Drake gear. You will love the C Line. 73, Don, WB5HAK ----- Original Message ----- From: N Jones To: drakelist@zerobeat.net Sent: Monday, June 23, 2008 9:30 PM Subject: [drakelist] TR switch?
Pardon my ignorance, but can someone describe what a TR switch is? I am new to Drake products and have recently inherited from a deceased relative a C-line. Beautiful product, (up to now I have only used Kenwood transceivers) but I am not sure how the transmit and receive functions take place when using separate RX and TX. So again, what is a TR switch? Where can I get further information. I do not yet have the complete station, only the R-4C and spkr. Is the TR switch built-in somewhere or is it a separate physical unit? 73, Nick Jones ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yahoo!
