Hello to the group, Off the subject a bit perhaps, but. I have only " Really " been into Drake equipment for about a year and a half. Read the archives etc. Purchased some items from Don Garrett WA9TGT when he was still making his Drake replacement pieces and he gave me a piece of advise which I did remember and act upon, about a year ago. Of course the following would apply regardless of what brand of old equipment you use, and many of you have several in your shacks. His advise; Get a power strip that will allow you to individually turn on and off the equipment NOT using their on off switchs ...they wear out, and as most are also variable pots. they do too. He was right; Many are ganged and impossible to find.....check out the archives..... In any case I have a firm (which I am not affiliated with) close to my home. _www.mcmelectronics.com_ (http://www.mcmelectronics.com) (Springboro, OH) and they do mail order too. FWIW I understand they are a Newark Electronics holding or affiliate. I purchased an 8 individual outlet rack mount strip, lighted switch's on the front, outlets on the back, 6 ft built in power cord and a 15 Amp breaker. Brand is a Gemsound model SP8500 L. 19.25, W (depth) 6.5, H 2.5 inchs. fit under a shelf beautifully with a couple of brackets. MCM's # 555-2930 ship wt. 4 lbs. Reason for the missive...normal $ is 21.95 Mine was purchased at half that on sale. Well they are having another sale and the price is $ 15.17 Winter catalog SC14 good to 1-31-09 perhaps worth your consideration. A relatively inexpensive gift for Christmas from the wife or kids (in my case Grandkids) Think I'll hint around that I want another for the workbench, maybe I won't burn up another soldering iron.
