That sounds about right for the T-4XC.... Remember, this IS AM! About 20W output is typical, you only want about 150 mA on voice _peaks_, or about 50W out.

You can swap out V7, and check the value of R63, but it doesn't sound out of line. Of course it HAS been about 35 years since I tried this, so ....

The current on the L-4B is definitely too high though. The L-4B should be about 30 dB gain, so your 15 W of drive should result in about 150W out of the L-4B and roughly 175 mA of plate current.

Perhaps there is someone around who has done this more recently???

Hi gang...
Using the T-4XC and L-4B on AM for the first time tonight..CAREFULLY.
OK, tune up good, go to AM have about .12 amps plate current at idle .... and 15 watts out with NO Mic input.
Seems a little high?

Also, with that scenario...I get 350 MA idle plate current on the L-4B with no Mic input...seems high??
73,
Thanks,
Lee
