I've used the modules from the 2.4.17 kernel, the ones from XF4.2 and the
ones from dri.sourceforge.net that are available without going into the CVS
tree.  I currently use the sourceforge modules.  I've never noticed gears
locking up, but I've never run it for more than 30 seconds.  I'll try that
tonight, if I get a chance.
