I'm afraid not, I understand what you mean now, I guess the broken paths
are rarely used.

I wonder myself. I can only say that it doesn't fix the HW TCL problems
e.g. in bzflag, but I guess that was to be expected. Felix pointed out
the quakeforge console, which is fixed with the combination of yours and
his patches indeed.
