Havoc, your comment on pserver being like telnet isn't really applicable, anon only pserver is as secure as any anon only service, I wouldn't even think about using non-anon pserver but I don't think DRI will ever need such a thing..
Just a question of bandwidth/load then. I'm willing to try it. When we get general freedesktop.org anon mirrors we can always move to using those.
To give you an idea of plans for the hosting and current status: https://listman.redhat.com/archives/xdg-list/2003-September/msg00001.html
So what we can do is include DRI in the migration plan. From you guys we probably need details on the exact stuff to be hosted, and how you want to set it up; and I'd guess someone from DRI should have admin access to the server (let us know who).
OK.
If anyone is deeply unhappy with the idea of moving to freedesktop.org for cvs hosting, it's time to speak up.
One question. Would this be a temporary thing or permanent move ?
If temporary then I guess I'd rather just see a anoncvs mirror setup rather
than move it in the first place.
But if it's permanent, then it's o.k. with me. Obviously we wouldn't tear down the CVS at SF, but we'd need to update the website to point people where to grab the new CVS.
My original suggestion was for freedesktop.org to be the new permanent home for DRI. Assuming the server load works out ok, which I think it probably will, there shouldn't really be any problems. How many people out there use DRI anoncvs?
This seems reasonable, but for now let's just get CVS up and running. The rest can follow as convenient.
