You have a ProSavage chip which has a lower memory bandwidth than e.g. a
ProSavageDDR or a desktop Savage card with its own RAM on board. That
could explain the lower performance.

I don't think the AGP drivers would make a big difference. Maybe the
AGP speed setting in XF86Config could have an effect for a
non-integrated Savage AGP card. But on an integrated savage chip it
doesn't make any difference at all (I tried it).
