This shouldn't be really necessary if one is
willing to waste some texture memory.

The r128 for example supports it, but it's not yet exposed
in the free driver.

OK. Everything except the SiS 6326 should supports it, though I don't
know about mach64 (the driver has the extension, but I don't think the
hardware has really more than one texture unit).

SiS 305 and 6326 don't support it. Neither do r128 or mach64.


Maybe I'll see if I can get Xgl eunning on the r128 or some other older
card.
