Just a nit, but I don't believe that Artem stated that, the quote was from
Garrett.

Timing is a part of the problem. Sun has had a relationship with LSI for
quite a long time, even before OpenSolaris existed.

Well, Sun basically open sourced thier system about 2 1/2 years ago, but
there are many vendors that Sun has been working with for far longer than
that. The relationship and work with LSI has been underway for some time.

To ask why Sun is involved is a sign that you might not know about work
they've been doing with LSI, and I'm not faulting you for that, just
trying to point out why this exists today.

I honestly do not know what has taken so long for the LSI driver, although
I do know that legal issues have plagued both sides, and it's easy for
legal beagles to chew up time by pushing revised documents back and forth.

If there is something specific you would like to know, I can try to get
some information for you, it is my manager that is responsible for the LSI
relationship.

I really think it is more complicated than appears on the surface, in that
the work that LSI is doing will support more devices, at least that is my
understanding. Given a different set of circumstances, it would be easier
to get your mfi driver putback, but given the current circumstances, I
don't see that happening.

This might not help you, but I can try to find out more about the device
support and/or what is better about megasas.
