Nope, direct access. There is an nge on the machine I connect to for 
monitoring nicdrv remotely.

I'm in the process of disabling all non-essential services on the client 
to see if that has any impact. I was noticing that the multicast dns 
service was using an abnormal amount of cpu (approx. 30%) during the 
plumb/unplumb phase (this machine was originally a development workstation).
