Fair enough, maybe not my best idea...

It occured to me, since this was supported in Drizzle 7, a good first
step would be to go to those sources and dig out the code that runs
with ./configure --without-server and just see if we can put it right
back in 7.1.

It would of course be nice if someone commented on why it was removed
in the first place...
