As your new all-round packager, I'm not supportive of removing this
for 7.1 tree.

I do support the idea if it is implemented in the future 7.2 tree.

Removals like this disrupt the packaging process. Since we are in RC
we should not consider such deletions anymore, otherwise things will
never get stable. From my point of view it is easier to have the
unused plugin hanging around for 7.1 and then delete it as soon as we
open a 7.2 development branch.

We missed the boat with 7.1, but once we get into 7.2 I hope we can
merge the packaging branch into main tree finally. Then these kind of
changes can be done with one patch that both deletes the code and
makes necessary rpm .spec and debian/* changes, causing less side
effects.
