Tim Donohue commented on DS-1004:
---------------------------------

Mark, yes, there are two different implementations:
(1) Jose's initial version (DS-587)
(2) Richard's implementation (DS-1004 and DS-996)

Because of initial concerns around #1 from the developers, Richard volunteered
to take it on and help out (as noted in the comments of DS-587, Richard & Peter
volunteered to look at this during our Devel Mtg on April 13). As DCAT saw
this feature as very important, & as Richard volunteered to lead it, they got
in touch with Richard about whether this could go into DSpace 1.8.0. So, in
order to make it clear that there were separate implementations, Richard spun
off a separate JSPUI (DS-996) & XMLUI (DS-1004) tickets for his
implementations, and we've linked those back to the initial ticket (DS-587).

But, as the discussion took at turn on the DS-996 ticket (see its comments), I
am now suggesting we take a step backwards and only implement a basic Tombstone
implementation for the XMLUI.

Hopefully this clarifies things.

Obviously, we'll need to clean up some of these tickets once we parse out what
exactly is going into 1.8.0 (likely just a basic XMLUI Tombstone), and who will
take the lead on this work going forward.

> Companion to DS-587 - that is, a configurable tombstone 'reason'. The primary
> difference is that XMLUI never displayed a tombstone page at all,
> just the (erroneous) RestrictedItem page. This restores the parity between
> JSPUI and XMLUI
