I've done a quick review. I think the XSD is mostly fine. But I believe
there's a few things missing:
1) The 'dim' element MUST have a "dspaceType" attribute whose value is either
"ITEM", "COLLECTION", or "COMMUNITY"
2) I'm personally not certain that this XSD should support all the "extensions"
of the ItemBatchUpdate work (as that work is NOT in out-of-the-box DSpace, as
far as I'm aware). Therefore, I don't think this XSD should include the
following elements: "list", "remove", "original", "license" and "collection".
None of those elements are standard to a normal DIM file.
Again, this feedback is just based on a very quick review. I think it's mostly
looking good. The next steps would be to start to test it out (validate some
existing DIM output) and see if we notice other things missing. I'll admit,
I'm not confident that the DIM wiki page
(https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpaceIntermediateMetadata) has been
kept 100% up-to-date through the years...so we may find that there are
fields/attributes that are not described on that wiki page which actually
should be in the XSD.
