I see the "ItemBatchUpdate" extensions to the DIM schema as an actual
*extension schema*. The base DIM schema should not need to support the
ItemBatchUpdate needs, as those features are not currently in DSpace (if we
were to add them to DSpace, then that'd be another question -- but, currently
they are not DSpace features). However, the ItemBatchUpdate work is more than
welcome to create an *extension* schema (DIM-ItemBatchUpdate.xsd) based on the
DIM schema.
I was just pointing out that the DIM schema should only describe out-of-the-box
DSpace features. It should not describe all extensions to the schema.
I hope that clarifies. If you do want to submit a separate ticket/pull request
for the ItemBatchUpdate work, I'd encourage you to do so. Perhaps it could
become part of DSpace in a future release. (But, the discussion/work on
ItemBatchUpdate needs a separate JIRA ticket -- it should not be discussed as
part of this ticket, as DS-1367 is specifically about describing the base DIM
schema in an XSD).
