Here's the response from Byon at Byonics that confirms that the ring and tip need to be reversed. I'll let you know once I have the time to construct a cable.
Here's Byon's message: So, at this point, I'm thinking the best two solutions are: GPAC, Null modem (which I do not have) and a Kenwood GPS adapter cable OR cut the GPAKC cable, and swap the ring and tip lines. Sorry it's not easier. Please let me know your results if you try either. From what I've been told, you need to make a jumper cable to reverse the tip and center pins on the stereo jack and it will work fine.
