7.5.3 is all you need for now. Do you have a control panel called
MacTCP or TCP/IP? One of these needs to be configured with your
Internet Service Provider information.

If you have MacTCP follow the configuring directions found at
http://www.accesscom.com/support/macintosh/mac-mactcp.html
and also at
http://www.rtis.com/nat/user/toolbox/oldmacs/PPPconfig/ (scroll
down to view a photo of MacTCP) then restart the computer.

You also need a modem dialer like MacPPP 2.5 which includes a
Config PPP control panel and a PPP extension) available at
http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n10621
Install (drag it on top on the System Folder icon inside the hard disk
window and click Yes to the message that appears) .

Now configure the ConfigPPP control panel also
using the directions found at
http://www.rtis.com/nat/user/toolbox/oldmacs/PPPconfig/ and also at
http://www.accesscom.com/support/macintosh/mac-ppp.html.
Restart the computer again.

Now see if you have an Express Modem control panel. If so, open it
and click the radio button for "use internal modem" If there is no
Express Modem control panel, you'll need to download and install the
Express Modem 1.5.5 software
from http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n10382
(assuming it's an Apple internal modem)

Now click the "Open" button in Config PPP. Your modem will
dial into your ISP and this will (hopefully) establish your internet connection.

The final step is obtaining and installing a web browser and email
program (or use Netscape 2.02 that has both). There are ways to do this
without a CD-ROM drive. Basically it involves
Downloading Netscape Navigator 1.0 Installer available at
  ftp://ftp.netspace.org/pub/software/Mac/browsers/netscape-1.0n.sea.hqx
and copying it to a single floppy disk (it fits!) and using Netscape 1.0
to download Netscape 2.02

USE NETSCAPE 1.0 TO DOWNLOAD
the Netscape 2.02 BROWSER AS FOLLOWS:

15. Double click on te PPP alais on the desktop and click the Connect
button in the window that appears
16. Insert floppy containing Netscape 1.0
17. Copy the following URL for Netscape Navigator 2.02 to the clipboard:
      http://home.netscape.com/download/archive/index.html

24. Wait a minute for the page to load and Scroll down a lot and eventually
find the 2.02 English edition and within that find click on the
Download link for Macintosh .hqx format (40 bit encryption)

25. Downloading begins and may take 15-25 minutes. At end of
download you may be prompted to click the Save Document box -
do so if prompted. This will leave the Netscape 2.02 installer.hqx
file on the desktop or inside the hard disk window

the desktop to decode it. At the end of the decoding, drag the
Netscape 2.02 installer.hqx and .sit files to the trash and empty the trash.

28. Double click on 202 installer, click continue button, click install
button (not easy install) At end of the installeration click restart
button when prompted. A window appears and click the dont
ask again button. Drag netcape installer to trash and empty.

that appears The Netscape home page will load and you can now
browse the web with Netscape 2.02
