There are alot of after market share-ware and free ware-programs, some are
very good some are very simple depends on what your looking for. Check
http://www.tucows.com they used to have a few. I have a disk around
someplace I will take a look that has half a dozen different programs on it.
Just remember if someone really wants to break into the computer they can
provided they are good enough. For the casual let's see what in here type
of person most simple programs will keep them out. I do have one that will
not allow the computer to boot without a password if I can find it.
You could try THE BLOCK at http://www.kagi.com/mennigmann/blockhome.html
it's cute!
and you could try SUPER LOCK PRO at http://www.trivectus.com/ it's a
stronger more secure program.
You can find them both at tucows web site also. I have used both of them.

Subject: [Duo2400] 280 security
Does anyone know of a clever way to protect older books, like the 280 or
even an old PB 170 from theft or intrusion? I'm sending my daughter off to
college with a 170 and an iMac DV and wondered if there were ways to
protect the 170 or at least secure the data on it.
My trusty 280 doesn't get left but I would like to find some kind of
password boot security if I could.
We're talking System 7.5 and 8.1 here.
