KeyQuencer (from http://www.binarysoft.com) is great for this, and for
pretty much all the other things that people have mentioned. It's
incredibly stable, versatile, and parsimonious of memory, particularly for
a system-level macro utility; one of the two System add-ons I really
couldn't live without. (The other is the already-nominated PopupFolder,
which is just awesome: hierarchical submenus off EVERYTHING - not just the
Apple menu butfolders, disk icons, all icons in dialogue boxes, menu-bar
icon, and other stuff all of its own. It's a tragedy they never upgraded it
for MacOS 8, whose hierarchical-menu implementation is pitiful by
comparison. But so far as I know the 7.x version is still available from
http://www.highware.com.)
