7.5.5 should be fine, 7.6/7.6.1 isn't a bad upgrade, but it's not free. Go
to File-Find, type in "Network Software". You should see a "Network Software
Selector". Load that, switch it to OT, and reboot. Voila :)

Nah, not if you want it for Internet work at all. It's quite possible to get
connected with 7.1, but a lot of apps won't run.

Yup. Go to the Apple Software site and look for the "Localtalk Bridge".
Install that on the Quadra, set the Quadra's Appletalk to Ethernet, and make
sure you're plugged into the Quadra's serial port, and you should be set to
go. I do the same thing between my PC and Duo with an LC 475. Should work
great, though of course you'll be limited to the slower speed of the serial.
