        Sounds like that is one of the European versions ;-).

        I think your dead battery is REALLY dead.  Yank it out entirely and 
see if things cool off and it may help with the start up problems, too.  
A really screwed battery will screw with your power manager.  It'll run 
fine without in the slot if it's a bad battery causing all the troubles.
