I have 48 MB of RAM installed, and noticed a decrease in battery life
when I upgraded from the original 16 MB.

I believe that virtual memory is about as fast as physical RAM under OS
8.1, and I do not believe there is any advantage to installing more than
48 MB, only the disadvantage of further decreased battery time.

I actually saw some data about a year ago where someone had benchmarked
and proved this fact, not with a PB2400 but with some desktop Mac running
OS 8.1.

I'm sure some of you folks who have shelled out money to upgrade to 80 or
96 MB will disagree with me, and I'm interested to hear your reactions.
I just timed 17 seconds waking up from sleep with about 10 apps and 25
windows open, and 30 MB memory allocated; stock 180 MHz 603e.

Thanks,
