You may have the wrong cable or a bad cable. Without getting into the pin
specifics (because I don't remember) you can check by using a switchable
SCSI/Dock adapter. Or, it could mean a dead SCSI port (symptom of black
screen). I assume you've turned the screen brightness up. I hope you have
not/never hot plugged/unplugged your SCSI cable. If so, you've already blown
the port.

Additionally, make sure you are using Apple's Drive Setup 1.7.3 drivers.
Driver incompatibility via 3rd party might be your other problem. The drive
from the computer you are trying to connect to in SCSI mode must also be
HFS+ running at least OS 8.5 (assuming the previously working setup is still
the same).
