I will not post such a bond, but I have volunteered in the past, and
will reiterate now: I am willing to perform work such as upgrading
drives, RAM or CPUs in list members' 2400's (or even Duos) gratis,
provided you bring it to me personally. That would, for the most part
limit it to folks in the Puget Sound or B.C. Lower Mainland since I
live north of Seattle.

I've done many repairs and upgrades to innumerable computers for the
past 11 years, and have worked on virtually every powerbook model.
But the 2400 is the portable I use, love, and have worked on the most.

Where I draw the line would be people shipping powerbooks to me. I'm
not doing this as a business, and have no interest in doing it *just*
to save somebody some cash. I am doing this because I firmly believe
in community, and besides, our little list *is* "the friendliest
place on the Net." I'm sure I'd enjoy meeting any of you.

I have done the work before and am quite comfortable and confident.
However, if you are looking for surety bonds, or "authorized service"
you are way better off going to a dealer such as Westwind
<http://www.westwind.com> (their service dept manager is a 2400 user,
and so is the owner's wife, so they know the 2400!) or of course, MCE
<http://www.powerbook1.com> who deserve their great reputation on
this list.
