i had exactly the same problem

sent it to DT&T macintosh services http://www.dttservice.com (MCE do it too
i hear http://www.powerbook1.com)

i didn't want to do this either, as i live in australia!, but the whole
thing took about a week, and $290 US for the parts and labour (we won't
mention the shipping!) one thing they reccommended was to just pull the
faulty part out and send that, considerably helping with shipping costs...
but i didn't know what was the problem.

you probably wont have much joy with apple if the 2400 wasn't released in
canada.. i didn't with apple here in oz! :-(

good luck!

(ps mine works fine now.. but about that upgrade.... hmmm)
