First, you are mistaken that that is the only Ethernet solution for the
2300. There is a comm slot card for the Duo Dock I and that card is
already installed on the Docks II & Plus. There is also at least one Mini
Dock with Ethernet built-in and an Ethernet Micro-dock made by Newer
Technologies.

However, the quick answer re: EN/SC is that software directs Ethernet
instructions from your computer via the SCSI bus. A small converter
converts these SCSI instructions into standard Ethernet packets and sends
them on via your regular Ethernet. Pretty good in a 10BT environment,
however, in a 100BT the SCSI interface will cause a bottleneck, rather you
won't be able to take advantage of it. Hopefully someone will further
enlighten us with a more technical explanation than I can afford.
