Just my $.02:
Client will have a different user interface from Server, <begin opinion>
hopefully one that's exactly like System 9. <end opinion> It will gain
Carbon compatibility. It won't (officially) run on anything other than an
Apple-branded G3 or better. I doubt that we'll get it to run unofficially
on anything less. So no, I'd be very surprised if we could run it on
anything below a Wallstreet.
Server (right now) is pretty useless to _most_ Mac users. It requires a
large amount of Unix-savviness to make it useful. Plus, there aren't nearly
as many applications available for it as there are System 9. (Hence this
whole Carbon thing.)
Don't get me wrong- there's tons to like about Server- stability (not one
crash for me yet!), NetBoot (when I get it working), full protected memory
model, multi-threaded, you-name-the-buzzword. It's just not ready yet for
general release to anyone other than Joe Geek Unixhead.
