Greg, I had problems with my first 2400 dock. No matter how hard I pushed the scsi part of the dock would not connect. I know exactly what you're talking about when you say you have to push it in way too hard. I had the same problem. When Newer swapped it out, the new one works well, except that now I don't use it. But, if yours is working properly, you shouldn't have to crank it in there, it should take a little bit of force, but should go in relatively easy.
