I had a similar problem. I forget exactly how I finally did it, but I know
I succeeded ultimately.
I think I may have either used the old Apple HD Setup utility to wipe the
drivers and disk, then used one of the new Disk Setup programs. I may have
tried HDT from FWB as well, but I think what I outlined is what finally
worked. You may have to patch Apple HD Setup to allow it to recognize the
drive.
