When mine broke like this, I hacked at it for a few minutes and then gave up. I found
the wire position where it worked and put a rubberband around it. I leave it in one
spot and it has worked this way for the last year. Meanwhile, I got AppleCare to send
me a new one. Don't get your shop and possibly your hands all messed up working on
that thing because a new one is only $20 from Sun Remarketing. Don't forget to order
another power cord for $5 if you want to continue using your old one, as I do.

My power adapter has a loose wire. (Which I suspect is the reason
the fuse blew--the backlight flickered pretty badly when the power
cable was jiggled.) Has anyone opened one of these things up--do you
have to cut it open, or are there tiny screws under the tiny feet?
If you have to cut it open, what's the best procedure?

Thanks.
