As I was reading your message my eyes glanced over to the power adapter of my 2400, it
is adorned with the red electrical tape that holds it together after i took it apart
for the same reason.
Yes, it is relatively easy to take it apart, the two sides are not (or not too
tightly) glued toegther and with 2 small screwdrivers you should be able to take it
apart. The tiny feet hide no screws underneath. Inside, if I remember correctly, there
are 2 wires that come out of the transformer (?), these, at least in my case, proved
to be long enough to reattach the bad wires. Get a rubber thingy from radioShack (you
know, the one protecing the wire where it comes out of something) and replace yours if
iti is damaged.
