I have the 2300 C with the dock also and it is OK but doesn't compare in
speed to the G-3 desktop I have. It is light and small which is nice & I
have 8.5 running with no problems and 40 megs of Ram and Virtual memory on.
I went with photoshop 4 instead of 5 or 5.5 and minimal apps...just
photoshop, Claris 5, and Quicktime 4 and AOL. Trying to keep things simple.
8.5 is fine and is necessary for certain software extensions to download
digital images from my camera.
I bought the machine to take with me on trips and be able to download images
from my digital camera through a serial cable, my only option, which is very
slow. Also it came with a 21" Apple monitor and the Apple external CD rom
and a scanner...all for $400. Pays to check out pawn shops sometimes. So
aside from the lack of speed, I like it just fine.
Presently I'm looking for a replacement for the mylar sheets located under
the keyboard with the circuitry built in. Seems mine went south and 3 keys
don't work so if anyone out there knows of one...lemme know!
Eric
