The idea is really cute, but does "low-level insider knowledge" really just make it a barrier for new users? It doesn't seem very intuitive. If you're going to call it something other than "points," I'd make all denominations be called the same thing. I do like "wishes," except that I think that'd lead to some name confusion and people referring to the site as Dreamwish - which sounds like a Care Bear or a My Little Pony. ;)
