Right, hadn't thought of the dispute resolution angle. That would be a PITA
since no-one is ever entirely happy with that.

Yeah, that makes sense ... sort of an in-journal craigs list kinda of thing
... or a Bazaar where we're the people who rent out the spaces for stalls,
not the merchant.... [wow, there's an idea for a theme, Arabian nights
Bazaar]

We probably should do merchant-related tools as well, at least at the level
of shop-related themes and coordinated paypal buttons and that sort of
stuff etc, as puchisable items. Maybe something like LJ's recent 'spotlight'
or featured blog thing as puchisable way of promoting one's store. Although
with an opt-out feature [although the default setting is opted in] for paid
users at least.

Umm .. in case I wasn't being obvious, I'm mentally dividing private
journals from 'commercial' here, figuring that people would have one for
selling their stuff in, and one which they use as a blog etc. I don't know
if there would be any reason for a functional divide though...apart from
maybe keeping track if needed.

Just as a thought though...while a market place makes sense for those that
frequnetly sell stuff, what about those that are doing the equivalent of
holding a yard or garage sale [or car boot sale as we call them in the UK.]
?? Or even those that want to do the same sort of thing as freecycle. can
we fit them into DW ? [I mean, other than just setting up a community].

Perhaps we could use the text based site message system, creating an
optional 'all users' channel that could carry user-adverts for
stuff/services at a cheaper rate than the market place, like a few cents per
message. [heck, limit it to 140 characters, and maybe it could be
intergtated into an sms service like LJ do.]
Although it would need spam filters like whoa!
