Following up to myself ...
Regarding the idea of being able to subscribe (in whole or on a
watchlist-subfilter) to a tag-selected _subset_ of someone's
journal, I cited Joshua's description of same, using a syntax
that appears to be <username>{[-TagToIgnore]...|[+TagToWatch]...}
(that is, either a list of tags to ignore with the implication
that everything else will be read, or a list of tags to include
with the implication that everything else will be ignored).
This models, in concise-and-dirty form, the basic idea of what
I want, but I don't think that syntax will quite be enough in
practice. (It'll at least need a way to deal with multiple-word
tags, and probably a way of referring to untagged entries, most
likely substrings/wildcarding as well (I'd find full RE syntax
useful but that's probably both overkill and a performance hog)).
Of course, if the UI has separate boxes to stick the tag-filter
strings in, that'll be different from the concise (more command-line
flavoured) example syntax ...
Anyhow, I was wondering: is anyone already working on speccing
out this feature and its related syntax/UI aspects -- would I be
duplicating some else's effort if I started hashing out a design?
