Indeed! One of my friends was extremely upset to find out recently that their 
journal had been turned into a RSS feed, only to be even more irritated when 
they found out it was a "feature" provided by LiveJournal that no-one could opt 
out of. The most you can do is edit your Admin Console so the only thing that a 
syndicator can pull is your post titles.

I'm not saying that's a positive state of affairs (I think it's pretty slimy, 
actually, given that the forced feed's very existence is hidden away in the 
bowels of the FAQs), but anything posted to LJ has the potential to go on 
walkabout. Take a stroll through the Settings some time and see how many things 
you have to hunt down to opt out of to keep your name from being spewed all 
over the Internet. 

I think so long as Dreamwidth is transparent and not deliberately obtuse about 
how it handles privacy issues, that's a tremendous step up from the current 
state of affairs at many social networking sites.
