Verticals are exceptionally good if installed right.
For the main HF bands I absolutely recommend the Cushcraft line up....... I
still use my old rebuilt R5. I also have played with the R6000 though it is
not my favourite.
R7, R7000 or R8 have been used in the past on dxpeditions and have always
worked well.
One must make sure that the antenna can handle the power of course.
The R8 is probably the one to go to if you wish to have max band coverage.
If you want to have adedicated low band vertical I just love the Butternut
HF2V...... grouse antenna that I have again used on many dxpeditions.......
Obviously many will have their own pets..... just my own personal
experiences and views.
