Jim, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately for some reason I can't open ver7.06, it says it can't find the psk.dll, it's there OK in the DX4W directory but after I set up 8.04 it won't work. No problem anyhow.
I opened the .INI file with notepad and there under radio are the settings, they may not get transferred but they are recorded. In the case of the IC706mk2g the baud rate should be 4800 (not 1200 as DX4W wants) and the address 4E (not 48 as the default in DX4 is, nor 50 as the notes for the radio in Preferences says). DTR and RTS are low and it's all working now. Many thanks for your help, I've copied this to the support reflector just in case any one else has the difficulty. 73 Andy XE1/G3SVD ________________________________ From: Jim Reisert AD1C <jjreis...@alum.mit.edu> To: Andy Hewitt <andyphew...@btopenworld.com> Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Wednesday, 21 July, 2010 17:54:45 Subject: Re: [Dx4win] A little help and advice please On Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 8:31 AM, Andy Hewitt <andyphew...@btopenworld.com> wrote: > I have just upgraded my laptop from ver 7.06 to 8.04 and now the laptop wont > talk to the IC706mk2g that I use in Mexico. You have to run DX4WIN 7.06 and see exactly what your radio configuration looks like, then write down those settings and enter them in to 8.04. If you can't run 7.06, I don't know what else since I don't have that radio. On my 756, I make sure that the baud rate (menu inside the radio) is set to a real number (not auto), and then uncheck the "default" baud rate box in DX4WIN and set the baud rate to match the radio. Other than that, the rest of the 706mk2g settings should be correct. If you have a real ICOM CI-V interface and a COM port, or a USB interface like microHAM or RigBlaster, then you don't need to bother with DTR/RTS settings. Otherwise if you have a serial cable interface to real COM port, then try each of the four combinations to see which one works. If you have a serial to USB converter, then all bets are off. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, <jjreis...@alum.mit.edu>, http://www.ad1c.us ______________________________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
