The default box will use the baud rate and hex address used in the rig 
file. Unclicking allows you to override the settings.

DTR doesn't have to be on unless your interface requires it for power.

Make sure the baud rate on the PROIII is not "Auto" but set to a baud 
rate, auto can sometimes be problematical... it was designed for use 
with other Icom peripherals.

CI-V transceive should be off for D4W.

None of the above really explains the symptoms.

It sounds as if the PROIII is not recieving the polling instruction.

What is the Poll rate set to in D4W?
