I am happy to report that Jim's CIV router now works with DX4WIN!!!

It turned out that DX4WIN expects to see an echo of its commands whereas
N1MM and other logging programs do not. It was a simple matter for Jim to
enable echoing and he has already implemented that change into his software.

His CIV router has three CIV jacks on it. I plugged my IC7800 into one, the
PW-1 into another one, and my existing CIV bus to the third one. My SteppIR
and my 20-year-old SAS-6 antenna controller are connected to that bus and
they both work flawlessly. The SAS-6 is connected via RS-232 to my CIV bus
and I use a MAX232 device to convert the CIV data to RS232 data.

He uses an Arduino MEGA 2560 controller board to mount his CIV controller
board on, and it connects via USB. He describes a procedure to assign a com
port to the device. DX4WIN will work with any com port that is assigned to
it, but I had to make sure that the com port assigned was less than 8 for
N1MM compatibility. I set up my baud rate to the router at 38300 baud and
my CIV bus to 19200 baud.

This is a must-have product for anyone using a PW-1, and I highly recommend
it! Go to www.k9gm.com for details.

Subject: Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Icon IC PW-1 data clashes

Hello George, I have a 7800 and PW1, and I am working with Jim K9JM to see
if we can get his CIV router to work with DX4WIN. His router isolates the
PW1 from clashes so I hope that he is successful. It works with N1MM just
fine here so I am anticipating that Jim will have success with DX4WIN. Take
a look at K9JM's web site www.k9jm.com where he explains in great detail how
he has solved the problem.

I had not known about the data clash problem until very recently. I have a
PW-1 with a blown power supply and this has been a very expensive lesson for
me. One of these days I will attempt to take that power supply out and see
if it can be repaired. In the meantime I bought a new PW-1 but for now I
manually select the bands and do not have the CIV bus connected.

Has the data clash problem been resolved with DX4WIN and the Icom IC PW-1
amp? I had one a few years back and ran into this problem. Because of this I
sold the amp. I'm considering of buying another one but want to know if the
data clash is still present.
Thanks.
