Serial/USB adapters are a crap shoot. Some work and some don't. There has been much testing ect. on the Writelog reflector. As the man at Belkin told me..."they are a VIRTUAL serial port" and not all functions will work.
But there is hope. If you have a spare PCI slot, a Byterunner card or a SIIG dual serial port card WILL WORK in almost all computers. And the SIIG is cheaper that most USB adapters. I'm running XP and the SIIG gave me two more serial ports such as Com 5 and Com 6. I presently have 4 com ports controlling cw, fsk, ptt, and my rotator. All work properly and are easy to set up. There is one tricky part. You must check in your System to get the I/O addresses of the extra comports and change any different setting that may be assigned by DXBase during it's install. All the instructions are clear and simple in the DXBase Help file. ----- Original Message ----- From: "k7hph" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2002 11:07 AM Subject: [DXBase] Fw: Extra Serial Ports > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "k7hph" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, April 22, 2002 11:09 PM > Subject: Extra Serial Ports > > > > Hello: > > > > Does anyone on the reflector have any experience with USB to Serial Port > > Multiport converters?
