After comparing various professional logging programs I finally bought DXBase at Dayton 2002. Unfortunately I didn't ask about the TNC interface as I had never any problem with any of the other programs.
I am using a TNC with "The Firmware", a WA8DED compatible firmware which is very common in Germany because of its DAMA compatibility. To initialize the TNC I need to send the following macro: ESC I DF2OO (to set my callsign) ESC T12 (to set the tx-delay) ESC S1 (to set the port to No1) ESC C DB0SAB (my packet node) C DB0TRI-7 (my cluster to which the node software will connect me automatically) In Logger and in DX4WIN in took me less than 5 minutes to create this macro and get connected to the packet cluster. No such luck with DXBase. Apparently I cannot create such macro and if I try to send the commands manually in the packet window using the 'tilda' the whole programmes gets hung up (Not responding)after the first or second command. The packet window receive the init message after switch-on of the TNC without any problem but apparently sending anything to the TNC cause DXBase to hang up. All other programmes on the same PC work without any problem. I am using Windows 98 on a Pentium II PC. Serial speed is 19200 baud. If I use Logger to start the cluster, then close Logger and start DXBase I get all cluster messages. But ideally I want to delete Logger from my harddisk (although for free it's a great programme but it lacks the features I get from DXBase). Any hints are appreciated. 73s Tom DF2OO
