Thanks for the quick responses. Really appreciate your support.

1. Inserting the commands one by one is a (bad) comprise and I realize 
that DXbase cannot send a macro to initialize a TNC and connect to the 
cluster (Please have a look how Logger, DX4WIN and others do it and 
implement it in the next upgrade).

2. I read the help file and have used the tilda (~).

3. Baud rates are set correctly. DXbase is bringing the TNC init 
messages in the VHF packet window.

As all other programmes work with my TNC I am still puzzled.
After the second ESC command (~idf2oo to set the callsign) DXbase hangs up.

How is the handshake done: via the windows settings or is it hardware 
handshaking (need to change my RS-232 cable in that case)?

I will use a different COM port and do more tests tomorrow evening.
