Spotting beacons is VERY useful for the 6m operator. For example If hear the beacons from, say Norway spotting the beacon on the cluster system is likely to attract the attention of some LA operators and generate some activity on an otherwise dead band.
being able to do advanced filtering of incoming spots would be nice but there is already a work around for excluding beacons from the DX info pane. In the options menu alter the band mapping to exclude the beacon section of the band(s) from the CW part of the bandplan and include it in the RTTY part of the band (or just leave it out altogether?) and you can now use the mode RTTY filter to exclude beacon spots 73 Brendan EI6IZ At 17:41 27/01/2003 -0600, FireBrick wrote: >Lately, for some reason, some people on the clusters have become enamored of >spotting Beacons. >Not sure what this does for the masses but it sure clutters up the screen in >a hurry. > >So please record my vote for an option to filter out Clusters spots with the >comment: Beacon > >And for the idiot that does this and can't spell, please include: >Beacun.
