Hi all, Following this discussion and Jack's comment about the filtering preferably happening at the cluster end of things I have been experimenting with cluster software.
As a result of this and some comments from local users I am in the process of moving to a Dxspider cluster. My Dxnet cluster on port 9000 will eventually close. it's at mayodx.ath.cx port 7300 It has a worldwide feed but users can easily filter spots by zone if that's what you want for example. accept/spots on hf/ssb and (by_zone 14,15,16 or call_zone 14,15,16) will only display HF/SSB spots FOR or FROM station in CQ zones 14,15 & 16 (europe) you can also filter by comment e.g reject/spots info beacon or info Beacun your spot filter can have up to 10 lines so for complex filters do this accept/spots 1 on hf/ssb and (by_zone 14,15,16 or call_zone 14,15,16) reject/spots 2 info beacon or info Beacun accept/spots 3 on 6m and (by_zone 14,15,16 or call_zone 14,15,16) the number represents the line number, you can see your current filter settings by show/spots and clear your filter by clear/spots all clear/spots 1 just clears line1 I won't go into all the details here but similar filters can be used with ANN traffic as well A full user manual for dxspider nodes is at http://www.dxcluster.org/main/usermanual.html you can also filter by lots of other terms Type help accept for more information or see the Administration manual for more details and some other examples http://www.dxcluster.org/main/adminmanual.html one thing that is a little different on the dxspider clusters is that commands like sh/dx 20m need to be given as sh/dx on 20m to work correctly BUT you can have complex queries such as sh/dx on 20m/ssb info iota which will show only spots on 20m SSB with iota information in the comment field sh/dx from ei6iz will show spots from ei6iz sh/dx dxcc g will show spots for G and M stations (not not GI or GU ) I will be happy to help out any new users of my cluster with commands or setting up filters. Dxbase users especially welcome ! 73 Brendan EI6IZ At 17:41 27/01/2003 -0600, FireBrick wrote: >Lately, for some reason, some people on the clusters have become enamored of >spotting Beacons. >Not sure what this does for the masses but it sure clutters up the screen in >a hurry. > >So please record my vote for an option to filter out Clusters spots with the >comment: Beacon > >And for the idiot that does this and can't spell, please include: >Beacun. > >----------------------------------------------------- >First Law of Advice: The correct advice is to give the advice that is >desired. >----------------------------------------------------- > >W9OL, Bill H. in Chicagoland > > >_______________________________________________ >DXBase Reflector - Please visit us on the web at www.dxbase.com >- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >To UNSUBSCRIBE please visit: >http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase
