A few of us have experienced something similar.
In my case, if the Internet Window is open and operating with a Internet
node, the cpu use will be very minor, .01 with no other activity-->05 during
a quick callsign lookup.

But...
If the internet Cluster node loses connection, cable loss of signal,
inadvertent power loss to cable modem, then Windows Task Manager show DXBase
as hogging it all, 98%

I've never been able to prevent it. A 'KeepAlive' setting makes no
difference as the loss of connection is due to loss of the physical internet
connection.
This situation does not occur if I'm using the VHF packet cluster node.

I'm using
WINXP PRO
AMD 2400 cpu
512 ram
multimonitors.
